Integrity class’ topic this term is called ‘We Will Rock You!’ and it is all about rocks and fossils. To kickstart our topic we went on a trip to The Warren in Folkestone to hunt for our own fossils. We were really lucky as there was a storm the night before we went so there were lots of fossils on the beach! We really enjoyed looking for fossils and wish we could go again!

In number maths we have been representing numbers in different ways using base 10 and H,T, O grids and counters. Can you tell us what numbers we have made?

In topic maths we have been recapping the properties of 3D shapes. We have also made some models of different 3D shapes.

In English the text we have been looking at is Stone Girl Bone Girl by Laurence Anholt. Here we are putting some actions to the text so we can remember it.

In music this term we have been learning how to play the ukulele! We are really enjoying learning this new skill.

This week is Science week and we have been carrying on our topic of fossils. We were really lucky to be invited to a local secondary school and we made our own fossils! We had so much fun.

We have also been looking at the 3 different sciences -biology, chemistry and physics- this week. Miss Jones set up 3 different experiments, one for each of the sciences, for us to have a go at. We explored seeds in fruit and veg, tried our hand at chromatography and had a go at protecting an egg in the egg drop. We hope you like looking at the pictures of us carrying these experiments out.

In number maths this term we will be learning all about addition and subtraction. So we started off by recapping our number bonds to 10 and compliments to 100.

In topic maths we will be looking at perimeter. We started off by looking at non-standard units of measure to understand why it is important to use standard units of measure. Here we are measuring how long the terrace is with our footsteps - a non-standard unit of measure. If you ask any of us, we can explain why we all got different results.

In English we have been learning our story for this term which is Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura. Look at the actions we have come up with to help us learn the story!

In French we have been learning how to greet people. Here is a clip of us singing a song that we have learnt.

We have been creating our own replicas of cave paintings in our Topic lessons this week!

In number maths we have been using a number line to add 2 numbers together. Here are some pictures of us carrying this out!

We have also been practicing using a ruler to draw a straight line of a given length. We can do this in cm and mm.

We have taken part in a History week this week where we have studied a famous Queen. Our Queen was Queen Victoria and we learnt lots about her! We had a time line and looked at how many years ago she was queen. We even looked at how poor people lived in the Victorian period. Here are some pictures of us handing artefacts that the maids would have used.

To begin our topic on ‘Invaders!’ we went to Dover museum to find out some more about them. We made a replica Anglo-Saxon brooch that was modelled on the one we saw in the actual museum! It was a very fiddly thing to do as their designs were so intricate. We also handled some replica artefacts such as shields and helmets.

In topic maths this term we have been looking at Data handling. We have used Venn diagrams and Carroll diagrams to sort both shapes and numbers.

In PE we have been learning how to do a range of balances on different apparatus. Here are some pictures of us doing some tricky balances on the wall bars!
