Term 2

Lift Off!

To start our topic on Explorers, we were given a map and went on an exploration around the school grounds. We had to follow the map to find the points of interest. To begin with we found it really tricky and had to work hard to be collaborative cats. The map even to us to new places we haven’t explored before, such as the woods! We had a great time.

Maths - Shapes

In Maths we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes. We were given lollysticks and asked to make some 2D shapes. To challenge ourselves, we then discussed the difference between a square and a rectangle.

History

In History we have been learning about Christopher Columbus – a European who first found The Americas. We looked at the timeline to see how far back in History we needed to go (over 500 years!) and then learnt about the positive impact he made, but also discussed him as a person. Here are some of the facts we can recall.

Music

In music we have been thinking about dynamics, and how this can change throughout a piece of music. We listened to The National Anthem, and on our whiteboards we drew lines to represent the music. I think we did quite well!

PE

In PE, we have been taking part in Gymnastics and balancing. We have been working really hard on our shapes and control of these.

Number Maths

In number maths we have been learning about subtraction. We investigated whether subtraction is commutative and we came to the conclusion it isn’t as you can’t put the first two numbers any way around. We then wrote the 2 subtraction number sentences for different problems.

Turner Contemporary Trip

On 23rd November, we went on a fantastic trip to Margate to the Turner Contemporary to take part in an art workshop and look around the gallery. We were all really well behaved and had a fantastic time, even if the wind was blowy! We learnt that Turner used to look out to sea and use the elements to inspire his art work. We used charcoal and watercolours to create a class masterpiece before having the opportunity to see local artists pieces of work inside the Gallery.
