Term 5
SATs
Can we just say how proud we are of all the children in Democracy for trying their hardest during SATS week? It is not an easy time for Year 6, yet all of Democracy were full of cheer, optimism and determination despite the nerves. We are so proud of you for all the hard work you have put in. Well done!!
Learning Landing
Following the last SATS, we celebrated our WW2 topic with a jolly knees-up VE Day party! We tasted the 1940’s with a delicious Victoria sponge, scones, and fruit loaf, washed down with ginger beer and cloudy lemonade. As we discussed the end of the war, Peter Cook played wartime classics on the piano and children attempted the lindy-hop. It was a lovely end to our creative curriculum and a great chance to celebrate 80 years since Victory in Europe.
Learning Lift Off
Endeavour have launched their topic for this term which is a continuation of World War 2 but with an emphasis on Britain during the war. We have started on the home front with a look at rationing of food and a discussion about why carrot cake was made and enjoyed during the war. We then crowded into the DT room to make carrot cake following a wartime recipe. If you ask us nicely, we could make it for you at home!
