O'Keeffe
Welcome to the webpage for O'Keeffe Class!
Our teacher is Mrs Dedman and our TA is Mrs Tyler.

Term 1 - Why do we have different types of teeth?
Today, after looking at the different types of teeth and what they were used for we made them out of playdough and added them to our O’Keeffe mouth! We made incisors, canines, pre-molars and molars.

Term 1 - PSHE
Today in PHSE we discussed whether other people see strengths in us that we do not see ourselves. We revisited what a strength was, and whether we sometimes missed our own strengths. The children discussed what strengths they saw in their friends, and some of the children were surprised at how others saw them.
We then looked at the meaning of feedback, and how we could give it to someone else in a positive way. We thought about our vocabulary, and synonyms for our key word.

The class practiced how to give feedback in a way that was supportive, but also supported the person to improve and get better at what they were doing. We chose to all draw a butterfly, using an image on the board as a guide, and then gave feedback to our partner. We learned that it is important to balance positive comments alongside how the person could improve. We did this by suggesting ways to improve.

“Your butterfly is amazing! I really like the shape of your wings.”
“I think you could add more detail to the wings by adding more shapes.”
“Your butterfly has a lot of detail, well done!”
“I think you could add more detail to the eye as they are just dots. Maybe add a shape around them.”

“I really like the shape of your wings."
“I think you need to focus on this area and add more detail to the body. Look at the different shapes in it.”
Term 1 - Roman Art
As part of our learning on the Rotten Romans for term 1, O’Keeffe class put their artistic skills into practice and produced some amazing watercolour and oil pastel pictures. After choosing the image they wanted to reproduce, they painted a watercolour background, considering their choice of colours and pattern. Next, we added black oil pastel to the reverse of their chosen image and then traced onto their watercolour background. It was wonderful to see their amazement and joy when their images appeared, as if by magic, on their paintings! I think you’ll agree that they all look amazing!
