Term 3
This term, we have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the Great Fire of London. We discovered how the fire first started in a bakery on Pudding Lane and explored the reasons why it spread so quickly through the city. We learned about what London was like in 1666, including the narrow streets and wooden houses that helped the flames travel rapidly.
To help us understand what life was like at the time, we imagined we were living through the fire ourselves and wrote diary entries describing the sights, sounds and feelings people may have experienced during those frightening days. The children showed fantastic creativity and empathy in their writing.

We also spent time in Forest School where we took part in a fun practical activity inspired by how people fought fires in 1666. We worked together to pass buckets of water down a line, just as people would have done during the Great Fire of London. We quickly realised how difficult and tiring it was, and how many buckets it would have taken to try and stop the fire spreading!
