Welcome to Term 2!
Our creative curriculum this term is ‘The Seasonal Journey’
What are the seasons and how do they change?
Over the year there are many changes. How and why does this impact on our daily lives at home and in school? Lots of exciting events are celebrated throughout the year. Why do they happen at that time? Using this knowledge we can make observations and draw conclusions to inform our decisions. In science and geography we will use both our growing Geography skills and work as sensational Scientists as we investigate the weather and explore how it changes across the seasons in the UK. As hands-on Historians we learn about The Gunpowder Plot.
As aspirational artists we will be inspired by artists such as Andy Goldsworthy and David Hockney, creating our own art work (including sculptures) using natural materials. In computing will continue to think about how we can stay safe online. We will also talk about how we should behave online and what is good ‘netiquette’. We will then look at the similarities and differences between different devices such as a laptop and a tablet. In music we will create and perform songs and word pattern chants.
Weather Reports
Year 1 have been learning about the weather and we enjoyed having a go at our own weather reports too. Please take a look and see if you can guess what season the children are talking about in each video!
Learning Lift Off!
For our learning lift off, Kahlo class watched some exciting videos where we discovered the gunpowder plot! We had lots of interesting discussions throughout, then we re-enacted the story together and we built the Houses of Parliament out of junk modelling!

Term 1 - Me, Myself and I
This term we learn and play together, supporting one another as we explore and experience new things every day. We have lots in common, but there are also lots of things about ourselves that make us special. Together, we are going to be learning about ourselves and each other and celebrating what makes us the same and how wonderfully different we all are too!
In our Learning Landing we created our own X-rays using chalk!
We also played 'body bingo'!

We also built our own skeletons!
