Term 6
Bug Hotels
To finish our topic last term, we spent the final afternoon on the field and in Forest school, designing and making our own bug hotels. We think they are amazing!
PE
In our activity mornings, we have been practising for sports day this term. We have been trialling jumping in sacks, skipping with ropes, running with eggs and spoons and even dribbling footballs. We cannot wait for sports day this year.
Position
In maths we are learning about position. To start the topic we played a game where we had to get in certain orders and describe our position such as next to, to the left, to the right, and in between. This really helped with our vocabulary and understanding.
Handwriting
We have been working so hard on our handwriting this year and have even started to learn how to join most of our letters. Our handwriting and presentation is amazing!
Learning Lift off
This term we are going on an adventure around the world, visiting every continent and learning about a major city and country within it. To start our topic we completed our own passports and made a cruise card so we can join the cruise around the world. We had to travel through security (which was very strict!) and board Honesty of the Seas for our worldwide adventure.
North America
We sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and landed in New York. We have learnt that New York is a city on the west coast of North America and has lots of skyscrapers – very different from Dover! Whilst in North America, we leant about the heritage and how important totem poles are for many people who live there. We looked at photos and made our own totem poles which are now on display in the classroom.
